Cookie Notice
We use no advertising cookies, no cross-site trackers, and no third-party analytics. The complete list of what we store in your browser is in the table below, and at the time of writing it is one item that remembers you dismissed our notice. If we ever add anything non-essential, we will ask for your consent before setting it.
1. What a cookie is, and what else counts
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. Two related technologies do a similar job, and this notice covers all three:
- Cookies go back to the server with each request.
- Local storage stays in your browser and is never sent to a server automatically. Most of what we use is this.
- Session storage does the same, but is cleared when you close the tab.
2. Everything we store in your browser
2.1 Strictly necessary
These make the site work or record a choice you made. They do not require consent under the ePrivacy Directive or the UK PECR, and the site cannot function correctly without them.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Lifetime | Set by |
|---|---|---|---|---|
bsc-consent-ack | Local storage | Records that you dismissed the notice banner, so it does not reappear on every page view | Until you clear your browser storage | Us (first party) |
bsc-support-chat | Local storage | Keeps your current support-chat conversation and its identifier so the thread survives a page reload | Until you clear it, or clear the chat | Us (first party) |
bsc-exchange-order | Session storage | Holds the order you have open, including its deposit address, so reloading the page cannot lose it | Until you close the tab | Us (first party) |
2.2 Functional
None in use. We store no preference beyond the two entries above.
2.3 Analytics
None in use. We currently run no analytics or measurement product on this site: no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, no heatmapping, no session recording.
If we adopt one, we will list it here and ask for your consent through an opt-in control before it is set. It will not be enabled by dismissing a banner.
2.4 Advertising and tracking
None, and none planned. We do not run advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, conversion trackers, affiliate cookies, or social-media trackers, and we do not share browsing data with ad networks or data brokers.
2.5 Third-party requests that are not cookies
Two things load from outside our own domain. Neither sets a cookie, but both mean your browser makes a request to another company, which necessarily reveals your IP address to it:
- Google Fonts (
fonts.googleapis.com,fonts.gstatic.com) serves the typefaces used on the site. - Our own API endpoints on this domain, which fetch market prices and create orders. These are first party.
If you would prefer no third-party font request at all, we can self-host the fonts; ask us at privacy@buysellcrypto.exchange.
3. How to remove or block them
Everything we set is first-party and removable by you at any time. Clearing site data for buysellcrypto.exchange removes all of it. The banner will reappear on your next visit, which is expected behaviour and not a fault.
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies, and Delete browsing data.
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions.
Blocking storage entirely still lets you use the exchange. The only visible effect is that the notice banner appears on every visit and your chat thread will not persist across reloads.
4. Your consent, and how to change it
The banner shown on your first visit records that you have seen this notice. Because we currently set nothing beyond the strictly necessary items in section 2.1, there is no non-essential processing to consent to or to withdraw.
Should that change, this notice will be updated first, an opt-in control will be added, and nothing non-essential will be set until you actively agree to it.
